Un cambio de puesto, un ascenso en cierto modo. Son buenas noticias porque implican más dinero y mejores condiciones laborales. En principio, aparte de la función que desempeñaré a partir de ahora, no debería haber más variaciones. Pero no es cierto.
Gente que apenas te miraba al cruzarse contigo en el pasillo se para y se digna a dirigirte unas palabras, incluso con cierta efusividad, como si hubierais tomado una cerveza anteriormente. Empiezas a oír otras conversaciones en las mismas voces, ya no se tiene tanto reparo en tocar ciertos temas cuando estás delante y las charlas triviales acerca del tiempo o el fin de semana se transforman en quejas que escapan en voz baja, en palabras medidas con precisión estratégica, en rencillas que nadie es capaz de determinar cuando empezaron. Y tus compañeros, tus jefes, adquieren matices hasta parecer personas diferentes.
La sensación es más fuerte al considerar que hablo del mismo lugar en el que entré a estudiar cuando no tenía siquiera 18 años. Cómo cambia el paisaje según el sitio desde donde lo estés mirando. Todo lo que me quedará por ver, caso de continuar aquí, que aún no he visto.
Por eso, la proxima vez que vea una película o serie de televisión, o lea una novela o un comic en el que me presenten a una sociedad secreta de vampiros, hombres lobos o asesinos a sueldo, cuando me intenten hacer creer que el tipo corriente que bien podría acabar de cruzarse conmigo es la pieza clave en una conspiración o va a salvar al mundo, ya no esbozaré una sonrisa y soltare un "por los cojones". Creo que pondré cara de circunstancia y tararearé los primeros compases de la sintonía de "Dimensión desconocida".
